Nordic Semiconductor is a Norwegian fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless communication technology that supports the IoT. Kaga Devices acts as a distributor in Japan market.
Founded in 1983, Nordic Semiconductor has more than 1,400 employees worldwide and is a pioneer and global market leader in ultra-low power wireless solutions for Bluetooth Low Energy.
In addition to ANT+, Thread, and Zigbee, in 2018 we launched a low-power, compact LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular IoT solution, and starting in 2023 we are introducing new Wi-Fi products to help expand into the IoT market.
Low Power cellular IoT Module [LTE-M/NB-IoT]
The nRF9160 is the most compact and energy-efficient cellular IoT solution on the market, integrating an LTE modem, application processor, RF front-end, and power management system. The LTE modem supports both LTE-M and NB-IoT globally. GNSS functionality is also supported, enabling location tracking based on satellite and base station information. The built-in application processor features an ArmCoretex-M33 CPU, 1MB of Flash, and 256KB of RAM, allowing for single, advanced application development without an external CPU. Nordic Semiconductor has designed both the hardware and software for the nRF9160, enabling it to provide a highly efficient, optimized, low-power IoT solution.
Low Power Wi-Fi IC
The nRF70 series is a new series of low-power Wi-Fi SoCs.
It is the first product in the lineup and is a low-power Wi-Fi6 companion IC that provides seamless dual-band connectivity (2.4GHz and 5GHz).
It is optimally designed for use with Nordic nRF52, nRF53, and nRF9160, but can also be used with non-Nordic host devices.
The nRF7002 is ideal for use with Nordic’s nRF52 and nRF53 series for the smart home standard Matter.

RF front end module(FEM) : nRF21540
The nRF21540 is an RF front-end module (FEM) that improves communication range and connection robustness. The nRF21540 is a front-end module that can be used with the nRF52 and nRF53 series SoCs as a complementary device with minimal external components. nRF21540 is a 2.4GHz power amplifier (PA: transmit power: 5 to 22 dBm) and LNA (LNA Gain: 13dB) are built in.
Power Management IC(PMIC): nPM1100
The nPM1100 is a dedicated power management IC (PMIC) with an integrated dual-mode configurable step-down swiching regulator and battery charger. It is designed as a complementary component to Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52 and nRF53 series, ensuring reliable power supply and stable operation, while maximizing battery life with high efficiency and low static current. It also maximizes battery life with its high efficiency and low static current.
The nPM6001 is a dedicated power management IC (PMIC) that controls six independent power supply lines.
It is designed for multiple applications that require independent voltage control or that need to be powered down individually to save power.
Nordic provides software development environments and SDKs to reduce time-to-market and expenses.

Smart home communication spec Matter
Matter is an open source application layer developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance) that aims to create a unified communication standard among smart home devices, mobile applications, and cloud services.
It is possible to build compatible devices without being limited by each smart speaker manufacturer’s specifications.
|From a controller such as a mobile device or home hub (smart speaker), register the new device to the network using Bluetooth LE.
|Communication between devices takes place over the Matter network consisting of wifi and Thread. Bluetooth LE is not used except for registration.
|Nordic provides solutions by certified the Bluetooth LE and Thread protocol stacks nRF Connect SDK.
|Nordic can provide demonstrations with actual devices.
