Smart home communication spec Matter
Matter is an open source application layer developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (formerly Zigbee Alliance) that aims to create a unified communication standard among smart home devices, mobile applications, and cloud services.
It is possible to build compatible devices without being limited by each smart speaker manufacturer’s specifications.
Step1: | From a controller such as a mobile device or home hub (smart speaker), register the new device to the network using Bluetooth LE. |
Step2: | Communication between devices takes place over the Matter network consisting of wifi and Thread. Bluetooth LE is not used except for registration. |
・ | Nordic provides solutions by certified the Bluetooth LE and Thread protocol stacks nRF Connect SDK. |
・ | Nordic can provide demonstrations with actual devices. |
